14–15 March 2026
A First Step Towards the Development of Anthroposophic Medicine in Greece

It is with great pleasure that we announce the successful completion of the Anthroposophic Medicine Conference, “Towards a New Understanding of Child Development and Health,” held in Athens on 14 and 15 March 2026. The conference was met with an exceptionally positive response, with attendance exceeding all expectations. The event was organised by the Institute of Anthroposophic Medicine in Greece, in collaboration with the Medical Section at the Goetheanum, with the aim of fostering the development and establishment of Anthroposophic Medicine in Greece through education, research, and connection with the international community. The conference was hosted at the TriAnemi Waldorf School, whose warm hospitality contributed greatly to creating an appropriate and vibrant setting for this gathering. The presence of Dr Karin Michael and Dr Marion Debus from the Medical Section at the Goetheanum provided a significant impetus to the conference. Through their lectures, they explored with clarity and depth a range of themes, including the warmth organism and its relationship to the immune system, the development of the senses during childhood, sensory processing disorders, autism spectrum disorders and ADHD, as well as questions related to strengthening self-regulation and the role of the school of the future. These themes were not confined to a theoretical approach, but opened up a meaningful space for dialogue around the relationship between health, development, and the social environment. For many participants, the conference represented their first substantial encounter with the anthroposophic approach to medicine.
The response from the public and the quality of participation demonstrated that a living field of interest and study around Anthroposophic Medicine is gradually beginning to emerge in Greece. This development is particularly significant within the broader international growth of Anthroposophic Medicine and the need to create new centres of activity, education, and exchange. Within this context, the Institute of Anthroposophic Medicine in Greece, in collaboration with the Medical Section at the Goetheanum, is already exploring the possibility of organising a second Anthroposophic Medicine Conference in Greece, with the longer-term prospect of gradually establishing an annual conference in the country, alongside the development of further educational initiatives. This conference was therefore not simply an isolated event, but a first step towards creating a living field for encounter, study, and the practice of Anthroposophic Medicine in Greece.

The response to the conference and the quality of participation strengthened our conviction that there is now genuine potential for the meaningful development of this work in Greece. Through gatherings such as this, a shared space for inquiry, dialogue, and collaboration is gradually beginning to take shape. With a deep sense of gratitude to everyone who contributed to, participated in, or supported this initiative, we continue with the intention of nurturing and strengthening this momentum through future gatherings, educational activities, and new initiatives.
